FoodLG at Innovfest 2019
At Southeast Asia’s largest and most exciting Innovation Festival, Foodlg, also known as MediLOT’s MediTrac, was exhibited. Diane, a dietician from Ng Teng Fong General Hospital and Wen Yong, a developer from NUS’s Smart Systems Institute were invited to give a quick interview about the application and present a live demonstration of the application in use.

Q: What is FoodLg?
Diane: Foodlg is actually a diet and exercise tracking app and it was originally designed for use in Ng Teng Fong’s lifestyle intervention programme, which is a programme for our patients with pre-diabetes.
Q: So what are the key features of Foodlg?
Diane:
Diet Function: Patients can actually take pictures of the food that they’ve eaten and the app actually recognizes it as what it is — so if it’s chicken rice, it recognizes chicken rice and it’s logged directly into the food diary.
Fitness Function: This syncs directly with FitBit’s tracker and is able to look at the exercises as well as the steps that you’ve done
Chat function. A dietician and physiotherapist is able to view what you’ve eaten and your exercises and give you feedback accordingly.
Q: Who is your potential target audience?
Wen Yong: Dieticians from the Ng Teng Fong General Hospital is one of our potential users. They have used this app in their lifestyle intervention programme with pre-diabetic users. These users have used this app to log their meals daily and they have experienced successful weight loss of up to 4%. FoodLog, or Foodlg, actually belongs to MediLOT which is a spin-off from NUS and MediLOT’s next step would be to expand itself in a hospital setting as well as to increase its presence in the sports health and wellness industry.
