Made For Justice

Today’s Daily Stoic Meditation outlines how we are all made for justice.

We must prioritise good, right action.

We cannot act against nature’s will, which is for us all to be rational for each other.

“The unjust person acts against the gods. For insofar as the nature of the universe made rational creatures for the sake of each other, with an eye toward mutual benefit based on true value and never for harm, anyone breaking nature’s will obviously acts against the oldest of gods.”

— MARCUS AURELIUS, MEDITATIONS, 9.1.1

Made For Justice

We are all made for justice.

We must prioritise good, right action.

What?

Justice is the act of being fair, rational and objective.

Everyone deserves justice in one way or another!

We are made for justice.

The unjust person acts against gods and nature, and will come across many obstacles.

However, the just person flows with nature.

The just person yields to nature and does not resist.

We are made to prioritise the right thing, for ourselves but also for mutual benefit.

We are made to avoid harm at all costs and choose justice.

How?

There’s many ways that you can prioritise justice in day to day life;

  • Cultivate objectivity
  • Small acts of kindness
  • Be gentle to others
  • Smile and be polite
  • Make others laugh
  • Yield to nature — do not resist

Do things that the good person would do, and you will be flowing with nature.
