In an official statement given to Philippine media on 12 October 2018, mediXserve announced that it is blockchain-enabling its electronic medical records systems—one of the first initiatives in the country’s healthcare industry.

Blockchain’s potential in solving some of the problems in healthcare, particularly in developing economies, is not lost to the company. One of these problems is interoperability of databases of hospitals, clinics, and laboratories. “The technology will allow you to access all your medical records from the doctors that you’ve been to and from the hospitals you were confined since the day you were born,” Jorge C. Azurin, founder and CEO of MediXserve, said in an interview with the national broadsheet Business World.

Founder and CEO Jojy Azurin is flanked by Oliver Chato, mediXserve’s Head for Blockchain, Applications and Systems Integration, to his left; and by Romel Santos, Head for Blockchain Applications Architecture and UI/UX, to his right.
