mediXserve collaborates with Ateneo de Manila University to create the Ateneo-MediXserve Blockchain Education and Research Laboratory (AMBERLab). The partnership was forged during the signing of the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) on 8 August 2018 at the Ateneo de Manila University, Quezon City.

(L-R): Medixserve’s COO Jason dela Rosa, Chief of Business Strategy Ann Cuisia, and CEO Jorge Azurin; Vice-President for Loyola Schools Dr. Maria Luz Vilches, Associate Professor Dr. Jon Fernandez, and AMBERLab Executive Director Dr. Regina Estuar.

AMBERLab is a think tank and advance research center that will support research and education of blockchain technologies in developing economies. mediXserve has pledged $20,000 to fund the research grants on health analytics and blockchain.

As a nascent technology, “blockchain would need a village to build this research,” said mediXserve CEO Jorge “Jojy” Azurin. One of the center’s objectives is to explore how blockchain can be used for social good.

Dr. Regina Estuar will head AMBERLab as its executive director.

During the event, Ateneo also signed a MOA with one of AMBERLab’s partners, NEM Foundation, to deliver programs and courses related to the blockchain technology.
