A Known female case of breast cancer with negative 18F- NaF study
Background: Breast cancer is probably the most common cancer in women around the world. It is estimated that 70 percentages of women with breast cancer who develop metastatic disease have bone involvement. Risk factors for breast cancer bone metastases can include demographic, clinicopathological, genetic, and metabolic factors. 18F-NaF is a highly sensitive bone-seeking biomarker used to identify skeletal metastasis and 18F-NaF PET/CT bone scan has been proven to demonstrate high accuracy in detecting bone lesions (Kumar, R. et al, 2011).
Clinical History: A 61 years female with CA right breast, status post lumpectomy (2015), chemoradiation (2016–17), 18F-NaF PET/CT for bony metastasis.
Our Findings: This is a negative NaF PET/CT Bone study.
No evidence of osteoblastic metastasis.
A focal hypermetabolic area with sclerosis of inner cortex of left hemi mandible, likely dental infection.
Multiple age related degenerative arthritic changes are seen.
