Electing a new MeebitsDAO Steering Committee

Help shape the strategy of the MeebitsDAO by joining the Steering Committee!

As we wrap up the first six months of the MeebitsDAO, we’re looking to elect a new Steering Committee. The Steering Committee works collaboratively with the General Manager to determine the DAO priorities and projects. This new committee will serve for a short term — March 31st through June 30th — and then we’ll start our regular six-month term.

If you’re interested in joining the Steering Committee, please complete this Candidate Form and post your “letter of interest” to Discord in the Steering Committee thread by Wednesday, March 16th.

What is the role of the Steering Committee?

As stated in Section II.1. of the MeebitsDAO Charter:

The Steering Committee exists to support the DAO, facilitate and oversee [the] day-to-day decision-making, and ensure that the decisions made by the Voting Members are implemented. Beyond that, the Steering Committee does not have additional rights or privileges. They may be Voting Members or Non-Voting Members depending on their contribution, the same as the general community.

Furthermore, the Steering Committee has the following expectations:

  • To actively engage the Founders, encouraging them to vote and participate in the DAO.
  • To recruit, oversee, and evaluate the DAO General Manager.
  • To maintain fiscal accountability for the DAO.
  • To participate regularly in the MeebitsDAO Discord.
  • To attend the weekly Office Hours as frequently as possible and no less than once per month.

Here are the official Steering Committee guidelines:

  • The Steering Committee is elected by the Voting Members approved by affirmative vote for a six-month term that lasts from January 1st — June 30th or July 1st — December 31st. There is no term limit for Steering Committee members.
  • Any MeebitsDAO Founder or General Member can serve on the Steering Committee.
  • The Steering Committee shall have no less than five (5) members and no more than ten (10) members. At least 50% of the Steering Committee members must be Founders.
  • One member of the Steering Committee shall serve as the Chair of the Steering Committee for the length of the term, as selected by the Steering Committee.
  • Any DAO member can be nominated to serve on the Steering Committee (a “Candidate”).
  • The Slate vote for the new Steering Committee shall commence no later than two (2) weeks prior to the end of the term.
  • A member of the Steering Committee can resign from their position at any time. A member of the Steering Committee can be removed by a unanimous vote from the other Steering Committee members.

How do I become a candidate for the Steering Committee?

First, complete the MeebitsDAO Steering Committee Candidate Form.

Second, post your “letter of interest” to the MeebitsDAO Discord in the Steering Committee thread under the Members channel.

The deadline to submit your candidacy is Wednesday, March 16, 2022.

How does the Steering Committee voting work?

Founders are encouraged to read the “letters of interest” posted on Discord. We will also post these “letters of interest” on the Snapshot as part of the vote. The election will use Quadratic Voting, meaning that Founders can split their vote among any number of Candidates. The top 10 candidates will be elected to the Steering Committee, assuming at least five of them are Founders.

The Steering Committee vote will occur from Thursday, March 17th through Thursday, March 24th.
