The job market is rapidly changing with some industries, like FinTech and engineering, thriving while others decline. Whether you’re looking to make some cash or build passive income to support a digital nomad lifestyle, here are some tips for earning money online:

  1. Earn Cash for shopping

If you have necessary expenses, like school clothes for your children or replacing common household items, you can search for coupons and potentially earn cash back by shopping through websites like Ebates or Swagbucks. Swagbucks also allows customers to earn money by taking surveys, polls, watching sponsored videos and other online activities.

2. Take advantage of credit card bonuses and cash back

Build your credit and take advantage of the generous sign up bonuses that certain credit cards offer. Shop around for the best deal and make sure you look into credit card cash back offers that provide between 1–5% rewards on every purchase. Meedrs who will sign up with our Member Banks will be able to earn through SocialBoost by referring friends and family who open accounts. The more friends and family you successfully refer, the bigger your share of SocialBoost will be!

3. Sell your stuff

If you’re looking to travel long-term, you might consider downsizing and selling some of your clothes and furniture. You can use tried and true sites like Craigslist or eBay to sell furniture to locals, or apps like Poshmark or Tradesy. Sites like Shopify and Etsy are great if you decide to expand into an online store or want to sell unique goods online.

4. Run errands and do side gigs

Sign up for apps like Fiverr, Upwork and TaskRabbit to be connected to interim opportunities that could become more consistent down the road. Fiverr and Upwork provide platforms for freelancers to connect with clients by allowing them to bid on jobs. If you’re not afraid to get your hands dirty, you can use TaskRabbit and get paid for doing errands like house cleaning, fixing furniture and more.

5. Rent your room or home

Renting your room or home can be a great way to pay your rent while you travel. If you have an extra room in your house, you can even rent it out while you’re in town to make some extra money. Airbnb is a popular site for temporary rentals all over the world, but plenty of competition exists, so make sure you assess which website offers the most bang for your buck. Other popular rental sites include FlipKey and HomeAway. In addition, it is important to research your local laws and regulations on providing short-term rentals as they can vary.

6. Become a driver

If you own or lease a car, you might try earning money in your spare time by driving with apps like Uber and Lyft. You can make your own hours and if you live in a big city, the potential for earning is greater. Keep in mind that you may have to notify your car insurance company before you start ride sharing with your vehicle. Uber also owns the delivery service app Uber Eats, so you don’t necessarily need passengers to make money. You can also try apps like Postmates and Doordash if you’re interested in being a delivery driver.
