CheckCon: Read all about it!

Meet the students running the #CheckCon newsroom

#CheckCon 2017 is fast approaching, and for those of you are wondering how to follow the conference from afar we wanted to introduce the amazing team of student journalists who will be writing about, filming, interviewing, tweeting and liveblogging CheckCon proceedings.

During CheckCon, an elite team of 25 students from Lebanese University’s Faculty of Information and Communication will be setting-up a newsroom to cover CheckCon in real-time, posting content from all three days of the conference to medium.com/@meedan & arabcitizenmedia.org/blog and Twitter (#CheckCon).

In preparation for covering CheckCon, the 25 students journalists running the newsroom have undergone an intensive training program — led by Julnar Doueik and Dima Saber — covering a range of skills from writing for the web and short-form video interviews to fact-checking and live tweeting.

We’re extremely grateful to the student journalists and trainers who’ve worked hard to set up the CheckCon newsroom — watch out for (multimedia, real-time!) updates from Beirut!

#CheckCon is a 3-day event that brings together grassroots media collectives, digital technology enthusiasts, professional journalists, and media students & scholars from across the Arab region to reflect on the experiences, successes, challenges and lessons learnt since 2011.
