CheckCon is a 3-day event that brings together grassroots media collectives, digital technology enthusiasts, professional journalists, and media students & scholars from across the Arab region.

Nearly seven years after the beginning of the Arab uprisings, and five years into the Check project, CheckCon is an opportunity to bring together everyone who has contributed to the project and our wider community, with the goals of:

  • Reflecting on experiences, successes, challenges and lessons learnt
  • Discussing the future of media & technology in the Arab region
  • Meeting new friends and reconnecting with old ones!

Hosted by Meedan and Birmingham City University (BCU), CheckCon is a follow up event to the Media and Social Change Unconference, hosted by BCU in 2014.
