Today at the Collaborative Journalism Summit, the Electionland coalition announces the launch of an in-depth case study of Electionland, the pioneering collaborative journalism effort spearheaded by ProPublica and Google News Lab around the 2016 US Presidential Election.

The case study is designed as a playbook for organizations looking to create collaborative reporting projects, and features a practical overview of how Electionland worked on election day, the key strategies that contributed to the success of the effort, and the main lessons learned by project partners.

The playbook also gives a thorough overview of how Check — our collaborative verification toolkit — supported the social newsgathering effort on Election Day, and briefly introduces how we’re taking that work forward with projects such as Documenting Hate and CrossCheck.

We are also thrilled to announce that Electionland has also been honored with the prestigious Sigma Delta Chi award by the Society of Professional Journalists.
