Assigning tasks and media items allows owners, editors and journalists to assign items and specific tasks to members of their team to work on their investigation. Users can then, having items and tasks assigned to them, do the work needed to help contributing to the fact checking and verification process.

Media items can be assigned to users after creation either from the project page or the item’s page using the “assign” link.

Clicking the “Assign” link shows a pop-up window with an auto-complete field. You can select the name of the team member to whom you want to assign a media item to submit.

After a media item is assigned, a note shows who it is assigned to on the item’s page. This also sends an email to them if their email address is registered with Check.

Tasks can be assigned to users either on creation of the task or later. A new field for assignment now shows when creating a task.

If a task was not assigned on creation, it can still be assigned later by clicking the three dots menu and selecting “assign”.

When a user has an item or a task assigned to them, they get an email notification about the action. This also shows on a new “Assignments” section on their profile page.

When an item or a task is resolved, the assignment note is hidden. And, of course, it no longer shows in the assignments section on user profile. Users can also remove assignment from items and tasks by clicking the “Unassign” link that shows for assigned items.
