Create a media item for each link you want to investigate. Add notes and tags to your links and change the verification status.

Use search and filters to quickly get the media items you are looking for.

Add a Link for Investigation

  • Click on the project name. This opens up your project workspace.
  • Click on the inputform , where it says “Paste or type”
  • Here, you can drop in a link from any of these social networks, or just any link from the internet
  • Click “Post”
  • This will create a page for investigation of the link.

Add a Claim for Investigation

You can also add a free text claim as a media item. This is how you can do this:

  • Go to the media creation input form and select “Claim” from the bottom links.
  • Start typing the free text claim in the first field.
  • You may or may not add an attribution to your claim by typing in the name of the source.
  • If the source already exists on your Check, it would show in an auto-complete list to select it. If it is not a source on Check, you can just add the name and a new source entry will be automatically created for it.

Start Annotating Your Link

On the media item’s page, you and your team can start adding notes about your investigation. Here’s how:

Adding Notes

  • In the bar at the bottom of the right side, type a note. For instance, type “I am looking into the exact location for this tweet.”
  • Click Submit
  • This will add your note.
  • Others in your team can also add notes as they collaborate on the investigation.

Set Verification Status

The verification status helps your team know the status of the investigation in progress. It’s a simple but powerful feature that remains visible on the media item when you’re viewing all medias for a project.

  • In the upper left hand corner of the media item, click on the blue “unstarted” dropdown.
  • Choose a status.
  • This sets the status and adds a note to the log
  • Status automatically changes to “in progress” once an action is done on the media item’s page.

Adding Tags

  • To help organize your links, you can also add tags.
  • From the three dots menu, click on “Edit”.
  • Type in a tag, or multiple tags separated by commas. For instance, try typing “united states, california”. This will create two new tags: “united states” and “california”.
  • Click x next to any tag to delete it.
