Translating your white paper, documentation, or software interface into multiple languages is a practical way to make your community more inclusive and engaged.

At Meeds, we understand the importance of language in connecting and empowering communities. That’s why we’re excited to introduce our latest feature: the Crowdin Connector.

The Journey

Meeds has always been a global, community-driven project that aims to facilitate collaboration and participation. Our journey with translations began with a simple yet ambitious goal: to make the Meeds white paper available in as many languages as possible.

Hundreds of volunteers stepped up from the early days, translating our white paper into over 30 languages. The overwhelming response demonstrated the community’s eagerness to contribute and share knowledge.

However, as the program grew, we faced challenges verifying contributions and managing reports from translators. We knew we needed a more efficient solution to maintain the momentum and recognize the hard work of our community members.

The Solution: Crowdin Connector

Crowdin is a popular crowd translation management system known for its robustness and scalability. It’s widely used in open-source communities and offers enterprise-level features.

By integrating Crowdin with Meeds, we aimed to create a seamless, rewarding experience for translators and proofreaders.

Key Features

Easy Integration: Setting up the Crowdin Connector is a breeze. Ensure you have a project on Crowdin.com with content ready for translation, and follow our quick tutorial to configure the integration in less than two minutes.

Customizable Incentives: As a program owner, you can design custom automated actions to capture various translation events.

Reward translators for suggesting translations, proofreaders for approving them, and even recognize valuable comments and issue reporting.

Meeds captures events happening in Crowdin.

Tailor incentives to specific projects, folders, or languages and ensure that only human-generated translations are rewarded.

additional criteria for contributions

Streamlined Rewards: Once users link their Meeds and Crowdin accounts, their contributions are automatically tracked and rewarded based on your criteria.

It takes 3 minutes to get started.

This transparency and automation eliminate additional work for both translators and program managers.

💖 Flexible Incentives

The Crowdin Connector offers unparalleled flexibility, allowing you to design a precise incentive structure that aligns with your project’s priorities.

Here’s how our own translation program benefits from this powerful tool:

As you can see :

  • We reward 2 points for every translation suggested and 1 extra if a proofreader validates the suggestion.
  • The proofreaders themselves are rewarded for their work.
  • Additionally, we have a boost of points on our current high-priority project Whitepaper.

This structured incentive system recognizes our contributors' efforts and aligns their work with our strategic goals.

💡Community-Driven Innovation

Serge Byishimo, a dedicated community member, inspired the development of this feature. Serge suggested the idea and contributed almost single-handedly to the code with the benevolent support of the Meeds core development team. His story exemplifies the collaborative spirit that drives innovation within our community.

Serge is the primary developer of the Crowdin Connector

The Crowdin Connector for Meeds is more than a tool; it’s a testament to our commitment to inclusivity and community-driven progress. By making translations more rewarding and manageable, we’re opening doors for more members to contribute and thrive.

Stay tuned for more updates, and let’s continue building multilingual, inclusive communities together. Happy translating!
