“Learn as if you were not reaching your goal and as though you were scared of missing it” — Confucius

Everyone wants super-skilled employees😱 But few actually make the effort to upskill their employees😐

Upskilling is not all about courses and certifications. It is about growing in every aspect one wants to, not let financial or time constrains confine their growth. This is the thought that guided the inception of Meesho’s Capability Enhancement Program (CEP).

“Hire and Grow Exceptional Talent” and “Growth Mindset” are two of our core mantras. The CEP especially embodies the ‘growth’ aspect in these mantras. These mantras places emphasis on talent and ability, irrespective of what degrees or certifications the candidate comes with.

After all, Meesho is known to be a trendsetter, not a follower 😎

The CEP was designed to cover multiple dimensions of personal growth. How?

  • Ensure the growth of our people at a strategic level
  • Encourage continuous learning
  • Prepare Meeshoites for the next stage of growth
  • Reward consistently good performers
  • Support the financial needs of Meeshoites

In fact, the very objective set for this program is “helping Meeshoites in their personal and professional growth journey.”

How the CEP works

We focus on hiring individuals who have the potential and intent to keep on improving. The CEP is an awesome opportunity for Meeshoites to fulfil personal development goals they’ve always wanted to achieve — be it learning a new skill, acquiring a certification or even getting fitter and healthier.

The program offers assistance in various capacities, designed to accommodate various use-case scenarios.

  • Full-time and part-time educational assistance in case a Meeshoite wants to pursue higher education. This includes studying for degrees, diplomas, etc.
  • Certification assistance for those who want to pursue certificate courses, both offline and online.
  • Assistance for personal development in other areas including hobby-related, learning languages, sports and fitness and so on.

If you’re wondering what makes this program so unique (and awesome🤩), you should know,

  1. Every Meeshoite has their own wallet, which gets renewed every year
  2. Meeshoites can pick any number of courses certifications within this budget
  3. Meeshoites have the freedom to choose whatever professional topics they are interested in

The CEP in action

Almost everyone knows someone who would’ve continued studying if given the opportunity. While Meesho may not be able to influence all circumstances of life, it can definitely provide Meeshoites with at least the financial backing needed to take that step towards self-growth.

Saumya successfully completed a 1.5-month course on Visual Design by the University of Toronto — a course she had been wanting to do for years. Sarthak from the CPO’s office points out that the CEP embodies Meesho’s ‘Growth Mindset’ mantra. Thanks to CEP, Sarthak had the financial means to undergo a coveted training program to amplify his impact in the Product Management field.

Meanwhile, Prasang used the program to purchase books that will help him enhance his skills in visual design, UX Psychology and efficient communication through UI with these books.

Some Meeshoites like Ishan Agnihotri (Product Manager and fraud-prevention expert) and Atul Jaiswal (Senior Security Engineer in the Infrastructure team) are serial beneficiaries of the CEP 😎 They are both currently pursuing multiple courses through the programme.

What’s next?

The CEP has been a great hit among Meeshoites, and now Hannay and team’s focus will to be to accelerate the adoption of the program so that more Meeshoites can learn and grow during their time here. Besides, there are also plans to increase the scope of the program to include more areas of personal development. What are they? Stay tuned to find out.

And just like our Meeshoites, if upskilling at work sounds like something you’d love to do, join us!
