We are nearly two months into the lockdown and while quite a few business activities are whirring back to normalcy, the fear of Covid-19 remains unflinching. Meesho, during the lockdown, introduced three new categories on the Meesho app to stay true to our core value of Make Entrepreneurs Successful.

Meesho wants to ensure that the entrepreneurs have products to sell during the lockdown, and so, handwashes, vegetables, dry rations, masks, and other daily essentials were introduced onto the app. However, even more important than keeping the entrepreneurs’ business alive, is to keep them safe. During these troubled times, Meesho lives by the motto of “Your safety, our promise,” and to this end has taken tangible strides to ensure quality and hygiene.

Ashutosh Srivastava, VP — Fulfillment & Experience shares five ways in which Meesho is doing this, from subscribing to all the guidelines shared by the World Health Organization, to partnering with suppliers and delivery teams who practice contactless delivery, regular health check ups, safety check-ins, and safe packaging.

Shield and armour of gloves and masks

All Meesho delivery partners wear masks and gloves while they are at work, practice social distancing, and wash their hands thoroughly with a generous amount of soap. Moreover, all warehouses of Meesho suppliers and delivery partners’ workstations are deep cleaned regularly with antibacterial and antiviral disinfectants.

Individual check-ups

The managers also ensure that regular temperature checks are done for all employees in warehouses, along with basic health monitoring to ensure their wellbeing. The temperature checks are mandatorily done especially before the partners step out for delivery. This way Meesho is also able to guarantee that the customers are also not put at any health risk.

Contactless delivery

Meesho has mandated that all deliveries will be dropped off at the customers’ doorsteps or security gates as per their convenience instead of being handed over. This way, Meesho eliminated the potential transfer of the virus through physical contact.

Let’s do it the online way

Digit payments have been made the norm. Even when a customer has chosen the cash-on-delivery option, they are able to do so digitally at the time of the delivery using UPI, online wallets, or credit/debit cards. On the other hand, if a customer who has already paid for their products wanted to reject a delivery because they were dissatisfied with it, they can choose not to accept the order, and their payment would be refunded right away.

Sign no more

Moreover, instead of signing to confirm the receipt of their products, Meesho has adopted an OTP system that the customers can share with the delivery person.

Through all these measures, Meesho is able to assure the safety of the customers and the success of entrepreneurs. As we gear towards non-essential deliveries and business getting back on track, Meesho will take further measures to ensure customer safety and entrepreneurs’ success.
