Meesho launches Learnovate, a free and self paced learning platform, which is sure to take Meeshoites from X to 10X

Meeshoites come with all kinds of educational backgrounds and areas of interests, but the one thing that unites all of us at Meesho is the desire to keep learning and growing constantly. The company too functions on continuous development, which is why Meesho officially launched our very own learning and development platform called Learnovate on Friday, May 15.

Meesho has always been education-friendly, offering to even cover up a major chunk of the expenses when any full-time employee wanted to pursue a course that would enhance their knowledge in their line of work. With Learnovate, the company is taking this learning journey a few notches higher.

“We constantly hear Meeshoites talking about their growth within the company. They are always looking for ways to excel in their current role and evaluating their potential vs their performance,” explains HRBP Manager Rashmi Jagannath, who, along with support of her team, brought Learnovate to Meesho.

Self paced learning — here we come

She explains how the company has, in the past, tried organising Microsoft Excel training and other role-specific courses. “However, we soon came to the realisation that catering to just one role or a group of people with such courses, is restricting them to specific subjects and that would not be of interest to Meeshoites nor will it benefit them the way we want these courses to,” she says, adding, “We realised that we needed a platform that could offer a vast range of disciplines that any Meeshoite from any business unit could take up to improve within their current role or to prepare for an aspiring role.

Enter, Learnovate. This platform gives every Meeshoite free access to over 3,000 learning and development courses across diverse disciplines on MyAcademy, a platform hosted by Naspers. Learnovate was initiated through an HR personnel from Naspers, one of the largest technology investors in the world, and also a Meesho investor. At the Naspers HR person’s behest, members of Meesho’s HR team, including Rashmi and HR Generalist Samriddhi Sahu, perused the platform.

MyAcademy proved to be a free online platform that connects companies to thousands of quality platforms, videos, workshops, webinars and training sessions provided by industry leaders such as Harvard, Udemy for Business, Culture Wizard, Vado, GameLearn and more. The best part about Learnovate is not just that it is free, but also that every Meeshoite gets to decide how and when they want to take the various courses.

“We got ourselves registered and saw the courses that they offer. We realised that the platform has courses relevant to almost everyone and caters to Meeshoites’ learning agenda,” says Rashmi, also explaining how the top management at Meesho, too, was enthusiastic about getting Meesho on board MyAcademy.

Meeshoites grow, Meesho grows

“They too have been hearing about employees who are yearning to learn, and our CEO and Co Founder Vidit Aatrey too is keen on promoting learning within the organisation. So, it was a no-brainer to launch MyAcademy’s Learnovate at Meesho,” reveals Rashmi. According to her, learning has always been a very important part of the Meesho agenda. And Learnovate seemed like the right platform through which Meeshoites could reap maximum benefit.”

After all, at Meesho we believe that learning will help employees look at their personal and professional growth through a new lens, and it will also offer them a shift in perspective while problem solving. The Meesho management hopes that this continuous learning will help an employee be more open to experimentation and change, and from the company’s perspective, will make them more appealing for new opportunities.

Meesho hopes that the new programme will develop more agile, competitive and talented teams and individuals within the company. With most employees striving to do their best by putting out great quality work, pushing themselves and living by the Meesho core value of Company>Team>Perfection, it is important to find ways to set yourself apart from the rest of the pack. That becomes pertinent when it comes to levelling up, and that is exactly what Learnovate offers to employees who want to make it big and go from X to 10X.

Within less than a week of launching, Learnovate has already seen over 200 registrations from employees, so Rashmi and her colleagues are feeling pretty optimistic about the fact that this initiative is surely going to bring about some impactful difference in Meesho’s and the Meeshoites’ trajectory in the company and life. The team is also working on some other interesting programmes which would turn the culture of learning into a staple at Meesho.
