As the third largest city in B.C., Burnaby occupies just over three per cent of Metro Vancouver’s land area and accounts for about 10% of the region’s population. As of the three cities nestled next to Vancouver, growth will not be an issue.

As of 2021, Burnaby’s population was estimated to be about 249,000. By 2031, Burnaby is projected to reach reach a population of 314,000, growing an average 1.6% per year. From 2031 to 2041, Burnaby is projected to grow another 1% per year and reach 345,000.

Geographical boundaries

Burnaby stretches from Boundary Road in the west to Lougheed Highway in the North to North Road in the East to 10th Avenue in the south then to Marine Way in the south then west back towards Boundary Road.

Located at an elevation of 59.92 meters above sea level, Burnaby has a Marine west coast, warm summer climate. It sees a yearly temperature of 9.57ºC which makes it 7.48% higher than Canada’s averages.

Burnaby typically receives about 82.4 millimeters of precipitation and has 53.46 rainy days annually. Umbrellas are a staple to all residents.
