Some hundred words a day.

For the nth time in this era of the pandemic, I logged out of my social media accounts on all of my devices. For the nth time, I want to eliminate a source of distraction and force myself to focus on writing some hundred words a day. in addition, this exercise will hopefully influence me to be more intentional about the content I consume: No more infinite scroll of things dictated by other people’s interests. I will go where my curiosity brings me.

There is not much that happens in my life. I don’t go out much. You might be curious why this is called Meet the Fresh. Well, I am actually misusing this publication because it was supposed to accompany episodes of my Meet the Fresh podcast. However, I don’t expect to come up with new episodes any time soon so I think I will just publish my notes on these pages.

What will my notes be about?

The tarot, for one. I recently started learning about reading tarot cards. I use the cards, not for divination but — as I like to tell my husband — as a prompt and framework for thinking about things. A friend has advised me to write a journal on the tarot card readings and I’ve been doing so for the past few days. I find though that I now have really atrocious penmanship and this discourages me from writing more. Since the Medium interface is so pretty, I am thinking of doing my tarot journal here instead.

I will also be using these pages to write about what I am reading and thinking about. This means you will be reading about plants, stoicism, my various get-fit-quick initiatives, my dog, books, music, etc. I guess this will be like the blogs of old, LiveJournal on Medium. Who does not miss those days, anyway?

Today, social media is abuzz with Marcos, Jr.’s SONA speech and the Ateneo killing. I have nothing to say about those things.
