The Plain of Jars

We entered Laos from Hue, Vietnam on 1 December 2022 and stayed in Laos for five weeks before leaving for Thailand on 6 January 2023. We fell completely in love with Laos and would like to share some of the highlights here again.

1 December, entry to Laos from Hue, Vietnam

From Hue, Vietnam, we travelled by bus to the Lao Bao border. We crossed the border from Densavan and got an Arrival Visa.

A bus bound for Savannakhet happened to be waiting for us at the border crossing immigration, so we boarded the bus and headed west to Savannakhet.

the World Heritage Site Wat Phu

From Savannakhet, we travelled to Pakse where we hired a motorbike. We then visit Wat Phu, which is a World Heritage Site. For me, it was my second visit to Wat Phu after eleven years.

Motorbike tour in Pakse 2 days

Renting a motorbike and touring around the site in a loop over a few days seems to be becoming a popular sightseeing style, especially among Western backpackers. We too rented a motorbike in Pakse and tried a two-day loop tour.
