We are now in Anda, Bohol, Philippines, and it has already been two weeks since we arrived in the Philippines on 25 April. Our initial plan was to fly to Kota Kinabalu on 24 May and we had already booked the flight tickets. However, we decided to change our plans drastically and leave for Indonesia earlier.

We will be leaving the Philippines on 14 May on AirAsia flight AK591 from Cebu to Kuala Lumpur. The flight departs at 1:45pm and arrives in Kuala Lumpur at 5:35pm, a three-hour and 50-minute flight for approximately PHP4687 (approximately US$84). The following day, 15 May, flight from Kuala Lumpur to Makassar, Indonesia, AirAsia flight AK334. It departs Kuala Lumpur at 1:40pm and arrives in Makassar at 5:05pm. The flight took 3 hours 25 minutes and cost 398 ringgit (approximately US $90).

In the Philippines, we have been travelled to the islands of Negros, Apo, Siquijor and Bohol. We have snorkelled at several spots and had some great experiences, but we still think that Indonesia is the place to go snorkelling. This is not only because of the marine environment, but also because of the way tourism is conducted, and to tell the truth, I can’t help but feel a little disappointed. Of course, I haven’t seen everything in the Philippines. I’m sure that the Philippines has lots of good things. But frankly speaking, we got tired of researching and a bit struggling to find where to go next in this country, while there are still so many places we love to go in Indonesia!

So we’ve decided to move forward and escape the Philippines. We are currently sitting in Anda Beach, but we will move on tomorrow morning and head to Cebu island.
