The entire Beam Team wishes all of our Beam-Lievers a belated Happy New Year!

Over the past few months, we have been working diligently (and somewhat heads-down) to improve the Beam experience for our community, taking in feedback from you, our beloved Beam-Liever.

To ring in 2019, we are excited to share with you a preview of the newest features that will be unveiled in our upcoming release. Stay tuned on our Beam Journal on the timing of this new release and our largely anticipated upcoming rate increase 📈💰. Until then, here’s a sneak peak.

1. Billie History

One of the most useful yet least noticeable features of the Beam app is the “History” tab, where you can view your historical transactions into and out of Beam. Now, in addition to tracking bank transfers, you will be able to track Billie History and other payout history as well, including when you collected Billies, when you used them, etc. Needless to say, your Billie deserves to be a part of our history.

2. Referral Tracking

A frequently-requested feature from you, our community, is the ability to track referrals. Beam-Lievers will now be able to track exactly who they have referred to the waitlist, who had signed up for the waitlist, who have downloaded the Beam Trial Account, and who were ahead of the pack with the Beam Private Beta. As a reminder, each successful referral (with verified email and phone number) is rewarded with 3 extra Billies (if you have downloaded the Beam Trial Account) in addition to being moved up the Private Beta waitlist.

3. A New Onboarding Experience

Being perfectionists, we have implemented a new onboarding experience that can further reduce the time it takes to open a bank account with Beam. How much time saved? An estimated 20 seconds. While it is only 20 seconds for some, it is eternity for many. Do email us and let us know how you like (or dislike) the new onboarding process!

4. Rate Display Customization

Some of our Beam-Lievers have noted that since the interest rate environment had changed recently, the rate displayed under their “Banks” feature is no longer accurate. To fix that, we will be rolling out the “Rate Edit” feature. Simply double-tap on any “gold bar” image under the “Banks” feature (if you’re a user, you know what it means!) to edit your rate manually so you can keep your “Banks” screen customized to fit your needs.

5. Faster Load Times

Upgrades to our back-end system infrastructure have resulted in shorter app loading times across the board, particularly during network traffic peak hours. We will continue to improve the responsiveness of the Beam app, so please help keep us accountable by emailing us if you encounter any issues at yourfriends@meetbeam.com. We’re always listening!

6. Better Security

Last but not least, Beam has always been committed to protecting the security of its customers. Facial and fingerprint authentication is now required as an added layer of security against fraud. How? Facial and fingerprint authentication can prevent an unauthorized user to access your account through an unlocked phone. Now with this added security feature, we can truly say that your money at Beam, which is already FDIC-insured in the first place, will grow in your sleep.

7. Other Fixes, Especially the Recent (distasteful) Billie Bugs 🐛🐛

It has come to our attention that a number of Beam-Lievers have been experiencing bugs while using the Beam app, causing them not able to receive daily notifications, or worst, not able to collect Billies at all. Needless to say, we are very apologetic. Beam is an early-stage company (i.e. we’re very short-staffed), and we work very hard to improve our service for our community. But sometimes, it still isn’t enough. We are not perfect. To that, we continue to ask for your gracious support and patience. If you have missed Billies, email us and we will try to right it work for you.

We are also working very hard to accelerate our release of the Beam app to a broader community, and update our rate offering to make it more consistent with our mission of providing “not the better rate, nor the best rate, but the best possible rate”. But this blog is already getting very long, so more on that next time!

The New Year is a time of celebration, new resolutions, and fresh starts. We here at Beam are ready for a new year of commitment to serving you, our community of Beam-Lievers. Your interest is our top priority, always. Stay tuned while we grow together in 2019.
