‘Eaze’ Becomes The Highest-Funded Cannabis Startup Raising $13M
The “Uber for weed” known as Eaze, has grown quite a bit over the last year and it intends to expand even more. Eaze launched in July of 2014 and allows cannabis users to receive cannabis on demand, directly to their doorstep.
Yesterday, Eaze made marijuana history with the announcement of its series B funding haul of $13 million from five investors. This brings the company’s total raised to $24.5 million after three funding rounds, making it the highest-funded startup in the history of the cannabis industry, as well as the fastest growing one.
For Eaze CEO Keith McCarty, the key to success lies in the on-demand business model. McCarthy ensures that Eaze checks off the three “pillars” of being a naturally social activity, having a flexible supply, and involving a high frequency of use. “Cannabis kept popping up as a natural fit,” he said.
The startup now claims availability in nearly 100 cities in California and says it has delivered marijuana to more than 200,000 people. It seems safe to say that cannabis and delivery apps will soon start spreading on a national scale.
“Eaze is setting a new standard for accessibility, safety, and professionalism, which makes it best positioned to educate and service the future market,” says Keith McCarty.
“This is a critical time for the cannabis industry. Adult use is on the precipice of becoming legal in California, the largest marijuana market in the United States. Eaze is setting a new standard for accessibility, safety, and professionalism, which makes it best positioned to educate and service the future market,” says Keith McCarty.
But the bigger picture here is that Eaze needs the money to establish itself as a recognized delivery brand both in and out of California. With the November ballot looming, there are 8 more states that will vote for marijuana reform, which could mean 8 new markets for Eaze to enter into.
Hopefully legislators, investors, and Silicon Valley innovators will all be able to reflect, as the smoke begins to clear, that they’ve gone about it in the right way.
