So this week is the last week of this semester, next week is our final term exam so I’m kinda happy but not happy at the same time :(

This week we must do our last individual review, so most of the “komponen nilai” in my PPL grading sheet is almost full. This time, I want to test our application for the real user, so I’ll take Usability Testing.

Usability testing is is a way to see how easy to use something is by testing it with real users. Usability testing is a method used to evaluate how easy a website is to use. The tests take place with real users to measure how ‘usable’ or ‘intuitive’ a website is and how easy it is for users to reach their goals.

Usability testing refers to evaluating a product or service by testing it with representative users. Typically, during a test, participants will try to complete typical tasks while observers watch, listen and takes notes. The goal is to identify any usability problems, collect qualitative and quantitative data and determine the participant’s satisfaction with the product.

Benefits of Usability Testing

Usability testing lets the design and development teams identify problems before they are coded. The earlier issues are identified and fixed, the less expensive the fixes will be in terms of both staff time and possible impact to the schedule. During a usability test, we will:

  • Learn if participants are able to complete specified tasks successfully and
  • Identify how long it takes to complete specified tasks
  • Find out how satisfied participants are with your Web site or other product
  • Identify changes required to improve user performance and satisfaction
  • And analyze the performance to see if it meets your usability objectives

The business advantages of usability testing can be seen at the end of the project:

  • It increases the likelihood of usage and repeat usage
  • It minimises the risk of the product failing
  • Users are better able to reach their goals, which results in the business meeting its targets

Disadvantages

Usability testing provides many benefits, but there are a few disadvantages in using this methodology, which should be noted. Firstly, testing is not 100% representative of the real life scenario. Despite not being able to mimic real life usage, usability testing is still the best method of ensuring your website supports users in achieving their goals quickly and easily. When businesses meet the needs and expectations of their users, they are more likely to develop a successful service.

It’s important to keep in mind that usability testing is not just a milestone to be checked off on the project schedule. The team should have a goal for why they are testing and then implement the results.

Completion Rate

Completion Rate

Dalam usability testing kali ini, saya hanya menggunakan completion rate sebagai success metrics. Untuk mencari tahu di halaman mana saja user merasa kesulitan memakai desain yang kami buat.
