We choose to go to the Moon in this decade and to do the other things, not because they are easy, but because they are hard.

Welcome to the twelfth Megapont newsletter as we enter our twelfth month of existence as an NFT project. We have some exciting updates on MSA to go over and a surprise from the awesome Tradeport.

A more extensive recap of the past year will come shortly after our anniversary Megapont Space Administration mint on October 26th.

Tradeport X Megapont

You might wonder why we have a massive TradePort logo in our newsletter. We want to start by sincerely thanking Daniel and Josh from Tradeport and Jamil and Nick from Gamma, as well as the many others in their respective teams. Megapont would not be what it is today without the support of these two amazing teams.

TradePort were responsible for ensuring the Robot Factory launched and functioned correctly. Jamil and Gamma have performed audits and have given us pointers on almost every NFT drop we have ever launched.

We have a little message from TradePort. This is only the second time another party has ever commented in a Megapont newsletter, the first being Vandal from Project Indigo.

As a Megapont holder, I want to list with my fellow Apes. And I want to list ALL my NFTs on the Megapont Marketplace; meaning Project Indigo, Bitcoin Monkeys, Satoshibles and more. I want the commissions from these sales to pay out to Megapont in order to support its growth.

But I do not want to sacrifice eyeball liquidity by listing on a marketplace people will not see.

So, at TradePort, we are now supporting Community Marketplace Contracts. Megapont listings will live side by side with TradePort and Gamma listings, and you can choose to list directly on the Megapont Marketplace Contract from your TradePort portfolio. Doing this will result in 100% of the marketplace commissions going to Megapont, while proper royalties still go to their respective artists.

And one final thing. Community Marketplaces are cross-chain. Megapont already has a marketplace up on NEAR that you can choose to list any NFT through. We will be supporting community marketplaces on every chain we expand Tradeport to. So yes, in the not-so-distant future, you will be able to list your beloved Moonbird on the Megapont Marketplace Contract.

If you are a community or project lead, feel free to message us. We would love to support you. Looking at you, Dr. $uss.

Cheers to Web3 not becoming a more centralized Web2.

So, what does this mean for Megapont? If you want to support Megapont but you spend all day trading BNS names (or soon, Bitcoin Monkeys, CrashPunks, or even one of the twenty collections from Dr. $uss), you can choose to have the marketplace commission be paid directly to Megapont.

We think this is a much bigger deal for all projects in the community and that this is a signal to other ecosystems that we are built differently on Stacks.

Give it a try today at https://www.tradeport.xyz/ and reach out to the TradePort team if you are a creator in the Stacks ecosystem. They would love to support you.

Megapont Space Administration

In our last newsletter, we described how the mint process would work for MSA.

This is changing.

MSA — Megapont Ape Club NFT holders

Megapont Ape Club NFT holders will receive an airdropped spacesuit. This will look something like the following:

Static background, all backgrounds on Megapont Ape spacesuits are animated.

This will be free for all Megapont Ape holders, and the spacesuit will just appear as a new NFT in your wallet. These suits will be tradeable.

MSA — Steady Lads NFT holders

Steady Lads owners will now get an airdrop. The Steady Lads MSA spacesuits will not be a paid mint. When this NFT is airdropped, it will be complete, meaning it will already include your Steady Lad. See the example below:

Now for the “new” exciting stuff.

Zaius, Virgil and Koko

Whilst in space, the Apes were able to create three clone templates of themselves. Meet Zaius, Virgil and Koko.

These apes need a suit too.

Public Sale

Stacks has recently attracted a bunch of new wallets and activity, primarily thanks to the BNS degen community breaking the blockchain (welcome to the club!).

Any wallet with a .btc or .mega BNS name will be eligible for the public mint. Quantity is TBD, but the price is fixed at 50STX.

Why are we doing this? It makes no sense for a new wallet to mint an empty suit, to then either find an ape to put in the spacesuit or have to buy one from the marketplace. We also feel like owning an empty spacesuit is not a great collector experience.

Therefore, every spacesuit sold in the public sale will come inhabited by one of the three clones. These clones have no unique traits. If you get Koko (the zebra clone), the Koko in the spacesuit that Sarah minted will be the same as yours. The spacesuit, however, will differ.

These spacesuits will be part of the MSA collection. The same one that Megapont Ape Club NFT holders are being airdropped.

You can remove Zaius, Virgil and Koko from the spacesuit and place the suit on an original Megapont Ape. You would literally be tossing the poor clones, without a suit, into the vacuum of outer space. That would be Ape murder. But if you want to, you can do that.

So, how does all of this work?

The UI has been ready for months. The MSA art has been a killer for Weasly. He has had to create generative spacesuits and animated backgrounds as well as spacesuits for Steady Lads. Moreover, he has had to remodel all 2,500 apes, including 1/1s for the 80/80 canvas.

Below, we will walk through the basic functionality again for those who have not seen the UI.

You can view all your MSA suits on the MSA website that will launch on October 26th.

You can select a suit from here and see which Apes are eligible to use that suit. This is where you can decide to remove poor Zaius, Virgil or Koko (please don’t).

You are then presented with a preview of your Ape in the selected spacesuit and can decide to send it off to space, thus rendering the suit metadata fixed.

You can not change the apes in the suit unless the Ape is Zaius, Virgil or Koko.

Over the next couple of weeks, we will ramp up the MSA spaces, Q&A and generally low-key marketing efforts.

This will include us discussing why you will want to own an MSA Ape and what is down the line for the collection.

Expect to see more from the team, and we look forward to breaking Stacks again.

Apes together strong.
