The miracles that make live performances special are unique to each of us.
- For some, it’s community. Strangers gather and are quickly bonded — even if momentarily. Collectively focused. Attuned.
- For others, it’s expressivity. Unfiltered emotion. Hearing voiced by another what we cannot (or will not) give voice to ourselves.
- The escape —full scale immersion. Energy transcending barriers. Vibrational physicality. Rhythm coursing through the body.
- Bearing witness. To spontaneity, talent, improvisation and practice. A maelstrom of unrepeatable instants coalescing into indelible memory.
The tools we have to capture aspects of those moments are incredible. Yet tools to nurture and carry what they offer with us, are unfit for purpose.
The Problems For Audiences (Fans)
Apps like Shazam use audio fingerprinting and machine learning to ID recorded songs — a phenomenon. Yet that tech cannot be used to ID songs being performed right in front of you. Each one is different.
