Doing this one thing will get you out of your creator’s block
Are you struggling to come up with creative ideas? Staring at a blank screen for hours but just can’t get a breakthrough?
Young people like us love to do things on our digital devices using various online applications — Google Docs, Notion, Asana, Canva, Evernote, Gmail, WordPress and many more.
According to New York Times bestselling author Austin Kleon in ‘Steal Like an Artist: 10 Things Nobody Told You About Being Creative’, while using gadgets and devices make our lives easier, they provide way too many structures and limitations — they are 2D instead of 3D, and they actually end up killing our creativity.
Creativity is often physical — it’s messy, filled with doodles, handwritten notes, flow charts and all that.
Digital devices just don’t allow this flexibility as much.
So if you want to be creative, get yourself this one thing: An analogue desk — get a whiteboard, draw on a journal and jot down all your ideas.
And only transfer them to your digital devices when you are done.
Go try it!
