GDPR, who?

We were all walking the ‘Earth’ like any other app, enjoying new features, having fun with new product developments, considering new markets, even showing some awesome growth in tons of regions — including Europe — and then the days of GDPR compliance came.

But we all have our towels here and WE DO NOT PANIC! Ok, maybe we sweat a little bit… But our PM took the reins and handled it #likeaboss:

1. Research: crash course on GDPR in general
2. More research: other apps, best practice, impact on UX, product design updates, etc.
3. Keep bugging the legal team to make sure we’re not missing anything, well, legal-wise
4. Action plan with detailed phases
5. Work closely with our awesome engineering team to come up with an action plan

We’ve taken the first few steps by adding more privacy options to allow our users to execute their Data Subject Rights (DSR): the right to object, restrict, access, erase, and rectify their data. As of right now we are waiting on our new compliant version, which means we are not available in European countries at the moment.

We’ll keep you updated on any other major changes, and will continue sharing this experience as it shapes us into a more attentive and accountable team.
