The Weekend Binge: Weird Westerns

This weekend John C. Reilly and and Joaquin Phoenix star in The Sisters Brothers. It’s as weird as it sounds—a western about two brothers/assassins both with the last name Sisters on the hunt for a gold prospector when one of them (Reilly) starts to doubt his career choice. In this way, it’s one part Grosse Point Blank, and one part Unforgiven.

It’s hardly, though, the first weird western. And so, for this episode of the Weekend Binge, I’m serving up all the weird westerns I could think of—from Jim Jarmusch’s Dead Man to Mel Brooks’ Blazing Saddles to South Korea’s The Good the Bad the Weird.
