Melalie update #5: The Melalie Mobility Network, progress report on the staking platform, and a new partnership

First of all, we would like to thank our community for their continous support. As a team we have been working hard on realising our big vision to become one of the leading mobility platforms. The support from all of you makes our hard work much more rewarding.

In this update you can expect:

  • Details on the creation of the Melalie Mobility Network
  • First release of the staking contract released at the end of June
  • A big new partnership…

1: The creation of the Melalie Mobility Network

The Melalie Mobility Network is a blockchain platform designed specifically for the mobility industry. Its goal is to develop an open platform that stimulates collaboration, streamlines business processes and optimizes the information flow through the use of distributed ledger technology (DLT).

Basically, what we are doing is making the back-end as well as the blockchain network of the Melalie platform available for everyone to start to collaborate on. As a consequence, we create a totally new eco-sytem.

What IOTA claims to be for IOT or VeChain for supply chains, Melalie aims to become the project that leads the way for the decentralized mobility economy.

1.1: Built on the foundations of Cosmos

For the blockchain network we will use the open source blockchain SDK from Cosmos. The Cosmos SDK provides us with great software that has proven itself as battle tested software. Large applications already use the SDK and/or Tendermint in complex production environments.

The major benefits of using Cosmos as the technological fundament of the Melalie Mobility Network are; the low fees, the speed and the interoperability aspects.

1.2: Why an open network?

Mobility as we know it is changing fundamentally. This change is driven by both technical advances and social developments. At this moment, the mobility landscape is characterized by fragmentation, competition and many legacy systems. Tech companies are in a constant pursuit to reinvent the wheel. Fully autonomous will soon be the norm. Cities are the new engines of our economies. The process of urbanisation is causing congestion problems while rural areas are increasingly isolated.

This is why we are developing an open and decentralized platform, accessible for all stakeholders in the mobility economy. The Melalie Mobility Network is a Proof-of-Stake (PoS) blockchain built on the foundations of the Cosmos SDK and Tendermint. Mobility companies of all sizes can collaborate on the same platform and easily share data while maintaining independent economic agents. The consequence is a unified, decentralized mobility network that allows travellers to efficiently and anonymously travel from A to B, without the need of owning a vehicle. Collaboration in the industry results in a more efficient use of resources.

1.3: Features of the Melalie Mobility Network

Altough this part is still work in progress, we foresee the development of the following features on the Melalie Mobility Network. Please note that for some of these features we might establish partnerships.

1.3.1:An open marketplace of mobility services
This is the part of the application that is already live and operation. We will comtinue to push the development, continuously adding more modes of transport, parking as well as launching in new countries.

1.3.2: An open data marketplace
Via the Melalie open data marketplace different stakeholders can easily share and monetize data. Users of the Melalie open data marketplace are cities, mobility providers, governments, data scientists and developers.

1.3.2: An open payment protocol
Via the Melalie open payment protocol, app developers and mobility providers can integrate $MEL in their mobility applications to facilitate easy and cheap payments.

1.3.4: An open insurance protocol
Via the Melalie open insurance protocol, $MEL holders can provide backing for insurance products by providing $MEL and earn a reward in return.

2: First release of the staking program released at the end of June.

The current situation in the market is difficult for many projects. This is why we want to provide our early investors with the possibility to stake $MEL using the first version of our staking program (MEL-S1). While we are building out our platform and prepare our next marketing campaigns, our dedicated tokenholders will earn rewards.

3: A new big partnership

End of Q3, we expect to ship a major release. This new release will have a huge impact on what you can do with the Melalie app. These new features are only possible because we have established a big partnership with a leading company in the Netherlands. We will share more details on this partnership when we are nearing the launch of the new version of the app. We will combine these announcements with all the neccessary marketing efforts you can expect.

Some hints on the upcoming release:

  • It will be in the Netherlands
  • It’s big
  • You can go anywhere
