“No one can tell your story so tell it yourself. No one can write your story so write it yourself” Anonymous

What’s your story? That’s a great question. What is the story you tell to people, to the world and most importantly to yourself. How to you picture your life?

When you talk to some people sometimes you feel like they have lived 100 years! You are just amazed by everything they did in their life at such a young age. And when you compare your life to them, the only thing that comes up is…. “Well my life is boring compared to yours…”! This is exactly what you should never do! Why? Because your life is worth it and your story is unique.

Why do we keep comparing our story to the rest of the world?

Good question! It’s true, I always compare my life to other people’s life or at least when they did something great I try to compare it with my life. If you are like me, then you should just stop doing that. We tend to compare everything. Since our childhood, we used to compare the toys we were given for Christmas, the grades at school and so on! And growing up, we tend to compare even more things: the way people dress, the way they look, walk, talk, write, dance…and the list goes on! It even feels like a need. We are always comparing! Products, people, life! Let’s STOP it.

I want you to stop comparing your life to other people’s life.

Why should I stop comparing my life to other people’s life?

  1. First because you can’t compare what’s incomparable. You life and story is unique and I am sure you have lived and experienced things that no one else has lived. So go one and write it down. Write things that you are proud of. Even if it’s seem little to you, write it down! Everything counts.
  2. Comparison only brings frustration. Have you ever noticed that by just comparing your life to other people’s life you are stepping away from the positive attitude. You begin to feel frustrated because you try to compare everything! So don’t compare, listen to other people’s stories, lives and if they ask feedback give them but don’t compare unless they ask you to do so. You will feel much more positive and happy.
  3. Comparison is a waste of time. The time you spend to compare your life with someone else’s life is a waste of time. Instead, you could be doing something far more valuable for yourself. You don’t realise it, but comparing also take you energy and you don’t want to lose that energy, right? Instead focus on creating value for yourself and let others compare their life to yours.

“Comparison only brings frustration”

How do I create value to my life and write my own story?

Step 1: Think about all you have achieved so far and what you have to achieve in the future. Think about all the possibilities and write them down. Write every success and failures and learn from them. You will soon realise that your story is unique.

Step 2: Learn from others without comparing yourself to them. Learn from people who have achieved and failed a lot. Learn from their success and failures and write everything down. This will help you avoid certain mistakes and keep creating value.

Step 3: Give back! Giving back to the community and to people is very important. As you learn from others, you also have to share your tips and help others when you can. As we said, the world give to givers and takes from takers. So share, give back and keep going!

“The world give to givers and takes from takers”

So remember that :

  1. You can’t compare what’s incomparable
  2. Comparison only brings frustration
  3. Comparison is a waste of time

Focus rather on creating value for yourself by:

  1. Writing down your achievements and your goals for the future
  2. Learning from people’s success and failures
  3. Giving back and sharing your knowledge
