Merging storytelling magic with children’s vision care, Speckles, a 2021 MAP Accelerator alum, has joined forces with The Walt Disney Company in Australia and New Zealand. Together, they’re embarking on an exciting journey to introduce a new chapter in kids’ eye care through a captivating line of Hide & See eye patches featuring iconic Disney princesses and Marvel characters.

Madeleine Scavone, Orthoptist and Founder of Speckles, expresses her overwhelming excitement about this collaboration. “As someone who grew up feeling like an underdog, I was always inspired by Disney’s storytelling magic. This collaboration is a personal dream come true. Now, I get to share that magic with the 3 in 100 children who need to wear an eye patch for one of the most common childhood eye conditions, Amblyopia.”

However, this collaboration transcends mere product innovation; it’s about changing perceptions and making a positive impact on children’s lives. By infusing the treatment process with fun and adventure, Speckles aims to eradicate the fear and stigma associated with wearing eye patches, replacing the mundane with the marvelous.

“Our mission is to empower every child on their vision journey, helping them develop strong, healthy eyes, and raising awareness of the importance of early vision checks,” emphasised Madeleine. “Regular eye tests are crucial for children’s learning and development, setting the foundation for a brighter future.”

As Speckles continues to navigate this exciting chapter in children’s vision care, Madeleine invites parents, caregivers and advocates to join the movement in ensuring every child receives the care they deserve for a clear and confident view of the world.
