This morning I saw an article about various celebrities who have undergone IVF in my newsfeed. The article shared actually a much smaller sampling than who I’m sure have done assisted reproduction procedures. But I thought it was encouraging for these women to open up about their infertility journeys.

It used to be that talking about IVF in pop culture and the arts was taboo.

I remember when actress Deidre Hall in the 1980s shared publicly about her doing IVF, and then about her surrogate journey. It was one of the few voices for a long time sharing about such experiences.

Then later there was Jane Seymour sharing her IVF journey as well publicly. But back then celebrities doing IVF — and admitting it — were rare. Later we found out Nicole Kidman did IVF — and there’s lots of speculation that she used egg donors as well due to her advanced age when she conceived.

In fact, when any older female celebrity has announced their pregnancy, there is often a suspicion of IVF and egg donors.

These were just some of the high profile women I’ve heard about who have publicly discussed their infertility journey.
