The new Melon Front-End deployed on IPFS is out: you can check it out NOW (see instructions below).

After many weeks of hard work from the Melon Dev Team, we are very pleased to release our new Melon ipfs-frontend (v0.4), running on the Melon Protocol v0.3.8 (and Melon.js v0.3.4). The ipfs-frontend was revealed during our M-0 conference last week.

Our new user interface is a front-end only application, that communicates directly with the Ethereum blockchain and the Melon smart contracts. No server or database.

Three core principles drove the development of this front-end only web application: reliability, permissionless and ownerless. We aimed at providing a simple, reliable and secure interface showcasing the powerful functionalities of the Melon protocol v0.3. The IPFS hosting solution provides much more security to users; anyone can verify the code that they are running and make sure there is no hidden code, no data collection and that we never have access to your private keys. In other words, we are good guys. In fact, we don’t even know when/how you use our application. Melonport values privacy and security, and this is exactly what this new front-end provides.

Now, what do you need to play around with the Melon ipfs-frontend ?

  • Install Metamask in your browser (Chrome, Firefox or Brave supported).
  • Before accessing our frontend, open Metamask, set it on the Kovan network and create an account.
  • You can then head over to our handy faucet to get some k-ETH and k-MLN (test tokens).
  • Now you are ready to GO. Setup your fund, invest some MLN in it and start managing your assets on the Ethereum blockchain, in a permissionless fashion.

If you have #notime, here is a sneak peak in a short video demo:

Enough said, I’ll let you see by yourself! Also we love feedback so please do not hesitate to report issues/suggestions on GitHub. We are always happy to chat on our Gitter channel or Telegram channel.

From the Melon Dev Team, with love ❤
