Good news! Melon funds may be eligible to claim 400 UNI tokens that were distributed by Uniswap a few days ago.

A fund manager can claim the UNI tokens and have the tokens recognised by the fund in the three-step process outlined below.

Important note for fund managers

Please make sure to claim your fund’s UNI tokens as soon as possible, at the latest until Wednesday, September 23, 2020 at 8AM (CEST). If you do not claim the UNI tokens of your fund until then (as outlined by the three steps below), your fund and the investor’s of your fund may be susceptible to share price arbitrage.

Requirements

The requirements for a fund to successfully claim UNI are the following:

  1. The fund has been created after February 27, 2020, using the current version of the Melon Protocol (version 1.1.0)
  2. The fund has successfully traded on Uniswap before September 1, 2020
  3. The fund is not shut down

Funds created on versions prior to 1.1.0 of the Melon protocol were not able to trade on Uniswap and are therefore not eligible for the token distribution.

Step-by-step guide

Follow the three steps outlined below to claim the 400 UNI tokens.

Step 1: Find the address of the fund’s Trading contract

The trading contract of the fund has been interacting with Uniswap, and it will receive the UNI tokens. To find the address of the Trading contract, go to the fund’s page of the Melon Terminal. Copy the Trading Address.

Step 2: claim UNI tokens on UniSwap

Go to Uniswap (https://app.uniswap.org/#/swap) and claim the tokens on behalf of the fund’s trading contract. Select “Claim UNI” in the menu in the top right corner:

Enter the Trading address (see step one):

Any wallet can be used to claim the UNI on behalf of the fund. Once the transaction has been mined, the Trading contract of the fund will hold 400 UNI tokens, which you can verify on Etherscan.

Step 3: buy a small amount of additional UNI tokens through Kyber

In order for the fund to recognise the UNI assets as part of the fund holdings, you need to buy any amount (a tiny amount is sufficient) of additional UNI tokens through Kyber (you have to use Kyber, Uniswap will not work).

That’s it. The fund now holds UNI tokens!
