MEMO Introduces The Risk Aware Failure Identification System In Decentralized Data Storage Realm

RAFI is designed to solve the reliability and security issues that are common in edge devices. Sometimes, edge devices may not be trustworthy, and these can birth some risks that need to be nipped in the bud if decentralized data solutions are to work effectively.

The fundamental idea surrounding RAFI technology is to utilize varying confirmation times for failed data blocks in strips with different risk levels. It also offers short failure confirmation time to high-risk strips containing multiple failed data blocks, while giving long failure confirmation time to low-risk strips containing a small number of failed data blocks.

RAFI improves data availability and reliability in the ecosystem by speeding up the process of identifying failed data blocks in high-risk strips. This process makes it possible for high-risk strips to easily be repaired. While the above is ongoing, it delays the identification of failed data blocks in low-risk strips, thereby delaying the repair of the low-risk strips. Doing this will clamp down on congestion in the network transmission because unnecessary repairs are delayed. It ensures that high-risk repairs are prioritized over their counterparts.
