“The conclusion you’ll reach might be different from what we found” — Silvers Rayleigh on void century

It all started when I watched a certain anime dubbed in my language on a tv station when I’m still in middle school. It got me hooked on the mystery of how 2 of the crewmates decided to leave the ship. I was wondering what made them leave, curious about their reason behind it.

Since then, I’ve become invested and started to purchase its comic book. I remember going on a hunt for the volume 25 cause it’s so rare in my area. Almost on every occasion, I will read it while walking in the mall as soon as I bought it. My parent often scolds me to pay attention to the hallway… I couldn’t care less.

Eventually, the digital era came and we can read the latest chapter every week. As I grow up, I’ve stopped buying the comic and choose to read them digitally instead, per chapter every week. Weeks become months, months become years.

This year, One Piece has reached its 1000 chapter. That means I’ve followed this story for almost 15 years. I’m surprised at how long have I been following this series.

The fandom has grown massive in the last decade — ranging from streamers, podcasters, designers, and Youtubers. There’s even a “reverie” held by One Piece-tubers just discussing One Piece. It was almost 11 hours long.

Some of the strong elements in One Piece that make people be a fan of are the storytelling and the world-building. Not only the story is fascinating, comedic, and full of mysteries to unfold — but there are so many life lessons that maybe I would never get in the formal education or personal experience. The world-building is immersive. There’s a vast amount of cultures, races, and natural landscapes that pleases the eye. It got so many characters, in fact, a thousand of ’em. They even held a character poll that lasted for months.

The reason I started to create this publication is the same reason why I donate all my One Piece comic book collections 3 years ago. I donated my collections, volume 1–66 to an orphanage in the South Jakarta area. Other than how rarely I read the comics nowadays, another reason why I decided to donate is that I also want others to have a chance to get an enjoyable experience of reading One Piece — hoping they can get their value and life lessons throughout the story.

This publication will discuss everything related to One Piece. It will contain an idea, concept, issue, or a certain character that One Piece brings up in its story. So it’s gonna be like a chunk from the whole One Piece that I’m gonna be discussed on. It’s not gonna be a breakdown of the story, so there will be no spoilers storywise. But there are still parts that would be considered spoilers, in terms of the information content. You’ll know what I meant 😂

So if you are someone who wants to experience a full immersive One Piece experience without wanting to know little bits of information about the story, I suggest not to read the stories in this publication until you are caught up in the latest chapter or episode.

For those of you who haven’t tried One Piece, I just want you to know that you’re missing out on a once-in-a-lifetime experience. I hope by reading the stories in this publication you become interested and decide to open the first chapter or watch the first episode — and start your journey just as a lot of dedicated fans did years ago. We’ll be waiting for you from the sideline until you reach the point where we are now — and then welcome you as a fellow Nakama who boarded the same ship.

That’s all from me then, hope you enjoy the stories!
