From new environmental adventures like nature walks and citizen science activities to soulful concerts, river markets and free kayaking, this summer was one for the books. The Memphis riverfront is truly an extraordinary place, sitting at one of the widest and wildest points of the Mississippi River. It’s a safe, family-friendly, fun and free space where we can come together as one and take ownership in envisioning a bright and positive future for the city.

Here’s a recap of this year’s unforgettable summer on the riverfront.

Watch Parties. Started the summer off right with the official Grizzlies playoff watch parties in Fourth Bluff Park. Go Grizz!

Tom Lee Day. Celebrated annually on May 8 to commemorate the heroic acts of Memphis native Tom Lee. Watch the celebration for the high-school winners of the inaugural Tom Lee Poetry Contest.

Soulin’ on the River. Free summer concert series created and presented by Memphis Slim Collaboratory, gave taste of the new Memphis soul in Fourth Bluff Park.

River Market. Fun, family-friendly shopping filled Saturdays with local vendors in River Garden.

Riverside Taps. Grind City Brewing operated pop-up beer garden outside of Beale Street Landing. Open now through October 31.

Sunset Kayak. Free paddle on the Memphis Harbor with smooth grooves from waterborne DJ Brother John of 88.5FM.
