The facts on space in Tom Lee Park
Tom Lee Park is going to be both a great public park and a great place to host big events.
What you need to know:
- In a music festival configuration the new park has a potential capacity for more than 55,000 people at any one time.
- There are more than 10,000 linear feet, and more than 300,000 open square feet, that can be used for BBQ tents. This greatly exceeds the 6,500 linear feet and and 275,000 square feet that Memphis in May requested to accommodate ~200 BBQ teams.
The park is built to conform to design specifications delivered by Memphis in May as the result of a mediation agreement signed in December 2019.

The mediation agreement laid out the specifications that Memphis in May said it needed to produce the festival in Tom Lee Park.
Each and every specification has been met, or exceeded, in the new park.
While these specifications were generated by Memphis in May for their music and BBQ events, they mean that the park has capacity for all types of large events and festivals. Already, the park is scheduled to host major events in the fall.
