A riverfront for peace.

“We want you to come and listen, meditate, pray, move, and connect with the people who help heal the heart of Memphis.”

A creation by Deep Water Media, and hosted by Memphis River Parks, the Peace Project seeks to create a healing space for Memphis through an installed soundscape.

Until 2017, Fourth Bluff Park in downtown Memphis hosted a Confederate monument. After the removal of statue’s last remnants, over 30 trees planted, and connective pathways installed. The space transformed.

The park currently hosts two pieces by prominent American artist Hank Willis Thomas, known for his themes of identity, history, and culture in collaboration with Tri-Star Artsoutdoor exhibition around Tennessee. The benches create spaces to reflect on the vibrancy of the surrounding environment, while providing a place of introspection, contemplation, and conversation.

Guided meditations by Talibah Safiya are available to download. Listen on your headphones while you walk through the space, or find another comfortable spot outside to experience.
