Our Special Guest from Cryptocurrency Industry: Brock Pierce
On August 21st, we had the pleasure of welcoming a very special entrepreneur in Istanbul. Known for his work in crypto world, Brock Pierce enjoyed a lovely, sunny day with our team in Bosphorus and shared his opinions on MenaPay and blockchain. After Istanbul, MenaPay team and Brock Pierce travelled to Malta to explore blockchain opportunities.
Brock Pierce is an American entrepreneur who used to act as a child actor in Disney movies. Brock Pierce has been involved in the establishment of virtual goods and digital currencies. He was the founder of Internet Gaming Entertainment, The Bitcoin Foundation and Clinton Global Initiative. He is the founder, board member and also serves as an advisor for blockchain companies including, Noble Markets, Blade Financial, ZenBox, Expresscoin, GoCoin, Tether, Change Tip, and BitGo. Pierce is founder and managing partner at Blockchain Capital, a venture capital firm that’s amongst the most active venture capital firms in Fintech.
Episode 1: Istanbul
We had the pleasure of hosting Brock Pierce on a beautiful sunny bosphorus day on Tuesday, 21st of August. After welcoming Mr. Pierce at the airport, we went to a boat trip in bosphorus to show him around and tell him about our culture over some mezes. Surprisingly, Mr. Pierce have visited Istanbul before and had some knowledge about Istanbul and Turkey so he was quick to spot some of the well known historical landmarks of Istanbul, like Hagia Sophia and The Blue Mosque. Besides our pleasant conversation about cultures, we had a heartfelt conversation on the blockchain technology, cryptocurrencies and where this adventure could take us as blockchain enthusiasts. We were happy to see that we had similar visions for the future of blockchain. We brainstormed on how the technology could reach full potential and about our projects over blockchain. The leading project was of course, MenaPay. MenaPay was intriguing for Mr. Pierce. He expressed his support for us and talked about how Turkey should be the one to take the lead on the blockchain technology in the region. He was also appreciative that we took this important project on our shoulders.
After discussing possible collaborations and business opportunities together, we continued our Bosphorus tour with some local fish and great music with the taste of Mr. Pierce in the background. We found Mr. Pierce to be very artistic in the way he presents himself and lives, even in the way he dresses. He was also profound and sincere. Overall, it was a good pit stop before our Malta event together and Istanbul has contributed well to our friendship with Mr. Pierce.
Episode 2: Malta
After having a wonderful tour around bosphorus, we hosted a private event in Malta with DQR to expand our network and introduce MenaPay. By activating the first DLT regulations, Malta has succeeded to position itself as a blockchain hub. It was a great experience for us to host an event like that in the heart of blockchain. Brock Pierce, here again, was our special guest.
Although the weather has stopped us for a while, with that little delay we managed to arrive in Malta. In our cocktail party, Brock Pierce shared his experiences in blockchain and warmed the atmosphere with his joyful attitude.
With the participation of more than 90 people, there were especially family companies and authorities on making Malta a blockchain island.
During the night, we have shared opinions and had the chance to discuss how MenaPay will be able to become a global player with the solutions it provides to the community of merchants, resellers and customers.
During the cocktail, we talked to the blockchain advisor of Malta’s president Abdalla Kablan about our goals, future plans and possible partnerships. Also, as the guest of a very important lawyer in the country Omer Zerafa, we had the chance of tasting the delicious Mediterranean cuisine and gained insight on Malta, the leader of regulations in blockchain.
Everything alters so fast in Malta, this small country manages to adapt to blockchain rapidly. For instance, the director of one of the biggest real estate agaencies in the island Douglas Salt told us about their plans on making their blockchain investments a priority in the real estate industry. Later on, he invited us for a beautiful boat tour.
This small country also hosts a very important blockchain summit and opinion leaders in the blockchain ecosystem are coming to the island to attend this summit. Soon, the country will host two summits that have already grabbed the attention of investors and companies.
It’s vivid clear that Malta is one of the gateways for Europe and we can easily state that many of the big exchange companies and blockchain companies prefer Malta to grow their businesses.
We hope to visit Malta again for promising business opportunities and partnerships.
