We recently announced that Mendix World evolved from an in-person conference to a digital event. Mendix Developers are usually pretty busy, so in case you missed the announcement here’s a friendly blog coming your way with all the updates you need to know.

Mendix World 2.0 is now a digital conference, starting on 1 September. It will be a mix of on-demand content and live sessions over the course of a couple of days, as well as ongoing conversations in the Community Slack channel. We expect to get thousands of Mendix developers viewing the latest and greatest low-code content from the comfort of couches all over the globe.

But let’s get to why you’re here — what’s in it for Devs? We interviewed tons of makers in the community to find out why they’re registering and condensed what they had to say in this helpful list (you’re welcome in advance). It’s going to be good from start to finish — so don’t miss out — sign up for the low-code event of the year on 1 September.

1. Get updated on all things low code

It doesn’t matter how knowledgeable or current you are about the low-code industry; no one person can keep up with ALL the coming trends and best practices. Technology develops at a lightening pace and, especially in today’s world, change is coming fast and hard.

Looking back at past Mendix World editions, developers told us they liked finding out about the Mendix roadmap for the coming year from CTO Johan den Haan. They also found a lot of value in hearing about upcoming low-code trends and developments from peers and industry experts.

Not have we made sure that we have included the keynote sessions in the digital conference, we also have many in-depth technical content in the Build the Future track alongside many live sessions where you can live engage with us and the presenters. Live sessions include four AMA (Ask me Anything) sessions, a live build webinar, as well as six live Art of the Possible sessions where you can see what extremes are build using the Mendix platform.

Knowing what happens in your industry gives you an advantage over other developers that did not attend and therefore aren’t prepared for changes. Get a low-code refresh from tech leaders within easy reach of your fridge — it’s a win-win.

2. Connect, meet and ideate with other developers (yes, even online)

All our interviewed makers said that connecting, meeting, and ideating with other like-minded developers is something they look really forward to. That’s why during Mendix World 2.0, there will be a dedicated Slack experience that runs alongside the tracks. You’ll have plenty of options to network and meet other developers virtually.

Mendix World is a place where we learn from each other, share new ideas, and help each other out. There are so many great opportunities to explore by attending the event and by talking to other developers about your work, culture, interests, and passions (and that’s before we even get into who will come out as reigning gif champion). Making new friends in the Mendix community and talking about your passion and what’s on your mind is something you don’t want to miss out on once you have experienced it.

3. Gain new perspective on tools, tech, and techniques

Many developers attend Mendix World to learn something new about a specific topic of interest or dive into a completely unfamiliar concept. With that many resources out there, such as the Mendix Academy, the community resources, and blogs, we as developers, have many mediums to learn from. So what makes Mendix World 2.0 so different?

There are over 70 tracks to choose from this year and all of the speakers were carefully selected based on their knowledge and experience. They’ve seen the good, survived the bad, and came out victorious on the other end.

Whether you’re interested in the latest cloud deployment options, designing the next, best consumer-grade mobile app or just getting a better handle on your integration landscape, there will be something for everyone.

Get in on a shared day of learning with your peers and discover new perspectives and techniques you could leverage in your own work. You’ll also be the first to get hands-on with some new features that are going to be released in the platform for a specific time around the event. You’ll have a chance to grow and evolve as a developer and on top of that… who doesn’t love first dibs on new toys?

4. Expand your skill set

Investing in yourself is important. Your skill set is one that constantly evolving — and you have to adapt and learn to stay sharp. Not only is refining and elevating what you’re capable of important for your career, but being able to teach your peers and help them grow makes you a more valuable asset to your company and expands the impact your have on the business.

You want to make sure your entire team registers — everyone will be drawn to different sessions and experience Mendix World Version 2.0 through the lens of their own expertise and interests. Attending the event as a team is easier than ever this year — as it’s a free event and there are no travel budgets to approve (Starbucks round trip expenditures might be a fun splurge though… just saying). Since everyone will take something different away from the multitude of sessions your team members will learn from one another and grow even more.

5. Capture a unique spark

Last, but by no means least, all our interviewees told us a distinct energy was generated at previous Mendix Worlds — it is a distinct blend of excitement, intrigue, curiosity and competitive drive.

Spending a few days listening to inspiring stories, playing with new Platform features, and getting caught up on all things new in the low-code space will get you pumped to conquer those big, hard projects you’ve been looking forward to. New connections and friendships forged in Slack chats and during roundtables will help spark outlandish ideas and amazing concepts that you can make happen.

Spend the first days of September immersed in this creative tornado of thoughts, tech, triumph, and fun. We’re looking forward to it like crazy and we hope to see you there.

My day job is to help the Mendix Developer Community thrive and I’m looking forward to connecting with members — new and experienced — as we lead up to the event. You can find me in Slack @Lars Theunissen, but you have to register first. Sign up now and we can start chatting about how great it’s going to be. See you there!
