We launched TownHall in April 2018 with the vision that a framework for developers to build decentralized and incentive driven communication systems would be a crucial next step for evolving the blockchain. TownHall has been central to the idea of how Menlo One can achieve our goals and why we’ve open-sourced our code. We’ve always wanted to demonstrate our proof-of-work and showcase our technology.

And now we’re excited that our team member, Nathan Windsor, has created a (technically) simple video tutorial to demonstrate how to install and run TownHall. Since this is a technical how-to for builders, it’s not meant to be plug & play. For developers, these are some everyday things you’ll be familiar with to install TownHall locally:

Step-by-Step for installing TownHall

Why TownHall?

TownHall is designed so that everyone has to pay a little bit to contribute, and the most valuable posts and comments are rewarded in Menlo Tokens. The system is designed to reward users who provide valuable content to a discussion by paying them in tokens and this is demonstrated when Nathan uses TestNet Ether to create a post.

We invite all our followers and supporters to try it out for themselves and would love your feedback!

Happy compiling!
