Hello, my name is Kristina and I have anxiety.

I am not ashamed of it, nor am I proud of this disorder. It has been my best friend and my worst enemy my entire life. It’s been with me longer than I knew its name, almost like an appendage or an organ. It is part of me, whether I like it, need it, or hate it.

Many people who have this condition are aware that they have it. If they aren’t aware of what it is, they will still be aware of what it does. Anxiety cripples your level of comfort and fear. It confuses you into fearing and and your fears confuse your comfort zones. For many people who have anxiety, they have triggers that “normal people” may never understand.

I have TWO key components that trigger my anxious mind:

  1. The Fear of the Unknown
  2. The Fear of the Familiar (Or known)

Sounds fun, right? Basically, from reading those two triggers tells you that I live in chronic fear. Everything in the world around us in either Unknown or Familiar. Without knowing what is about to happen, how can you fear it? Alternatively, if you can predict what may happen, is that cause for anxiety?
