Narcissistic Personality Disorder (NPD) is a mental health condition characterized by an inflated sense of self-importance, an excessive need for admiration, a lack of empathy for others, and verbally abusive of others. People with NPD often have an exaggerated sense of their achievements and talents and may constantly seek attention and praise from others. They may also have a sense of entitlement, believe they are superior to others, and exploit or manipulate others to achieve their goals.

NPD typically develops in early adulthood and affects a small percentage of the population. It is more commonly diagnosed in men than in women. The exact causes of NPD are unknown, but a combination of genetic, environmental, and psychological factors is believed to contribute to its development. Childhood experiences such as excessive praise or criticism, neglect, or abuse may also play a role.
