Questions we get asked a lot by businesses 👇🏽

How do you measure success?

We want people working on their mental health, so that’s what we measure. If people are going to Sanctus Sessions, then we’ve done a good job together, because people are working on their mental health.

We’ll look at attendance, unique users, returning users and we’ll talk to you about what the cultural implications have been for your business.

People going to Sanctus every week is good, yet people going to Sanctus every week and talking about within your business is great. We want mental health to become part of your cultural DNA where people talk with openness, honesty and feel able to be vulnerable — that’s our goal and when we make that happen consistently — that’s success for us.

What impact does Sanctus have in a business?

Sanctus Coaching has mountains of benefits for the individuals who attend; on their mental health, health, relationships, love life, awareness, openness, sleep, ability to give and receive feedback, confidence, public speaking, ability to hold conflict and much much more depending on what people bring.

People are the heartbeat of any business so the impact here is an obvious one and we’ve seen across our Partners, cultures of increased openness, honesty, vulnerability and trust begin to develop.

On the business directly this means we can see a positive improvement in mental health sick days, sick days, burnout, manager relationships, employee retention, employer brand, candidate attraction and HR overload.

What is Sanctus’ USP? / what makes Sanctus special?

Where to start. Well from the top, our brand is completely unique for the mental health space. We’re normalising mental health and getting everybody involved in mental health, we’re here for the 4 in 4, not just the 1 in 4. There’s nobody else like Sanctus right now in mental health.

We think of Sanctus as the mental health gym and Sanctus Coaches as the Personal Trainers for mental health, so whilst most mental health services offer support for people who are struggling with mental health issues or mental illness, we’re there for a wider part of the mental health continuum. Most mental health services are there for when you’re in a bad place, we’re there for if you’re in a pickle and if you’re jus curious or want to make some improvements in your life.

Oh, and the Sanctus Coaches. We vet, curate, train and support our coaches with robust systems, regulations and processes. All Sanctus Coaches are quality and adhere to set list of professional standards.

How is Sanctus different to an EAP?

The EAP is grossly underutilised because it is shrouded in stigma and largely inaccessible. Sanctus is front and centre in your business and we work hard on our brand and content to get people talking proudly about working with us.

The EAP is typically reactive while we’re proactive.

I’ve got a few people using it already — why get more to use it?

If you were the only person in your village working on your mental health, then you’d continue to feel isolated and there would be no cultural change around mental health. If there’s just a handful of people working on their mental health in your business then we’re not doing our job properly and if you just want a handful of people working on their mental health then you’d be better served by an EAP.

We want as many people as possible working on their mental health because that is how we change cultures around mental health inside and outside of business and we encourage people to work on their mental health, before things become a problem, and to work towards good mental health too.

What’s the upside of getting everyone engaged?

A transformation of culture. Not just towards mental health, but more openness, vulnerability, diversity and eventually, trust. Simply put, a mentally healthy workforce, where people’s mental health doesn’t get in the way of their work or their relationships.e

Why don’t we just wait and see how many use it and then we’ll just go from there?

After 3 years of working with businesses, we know this doesn’t work that well. It’s a weak commitment from the start and people in the business can sense that, so they won’t commit either. As Partners, we have to role model a committed relationship so that people on the ground feel able to go and see a Sanctus Coach to begin working on their mental health. How we partner and how we manage our relationship creates the container for Sanctus Coaching to thrive.

Can we do a one-off coaching day?

Nope, I’m afraid not. We believe in people working on their mental health like their physical health, so doing a one-off doesn’t sit right with us. Plus, people see value in Sanctus Coaching when they go more than once, you wouldn’t expect to lose weight after one gym session!

Can we run a trial?

In the same way that we don’t do one-offs, we also don’t do trials. We are looking for strong commitments, a true partnership and a proper relationship from the get-go. What we know is that when our partnership with a business is solid, then it sends a powerful message to employees who feel comfortable working on thier mental health at work. We’ve seen that a trial sends a poor message, you’re half the way in, not all the way in.

Plus, we have a 2 month notice period, so technically you could do your first month of coaching with us, serve your notice and voila — you have a 3 month trial.

What does the pricing cover?

8 Sanctus Sessions in a day. Coach support, administration, supervision and training, Online booking system, Customer Support, Partner Management and ongoing Sanctus mental health content for your team.

What can be spoken about in a Sanctus session?

Simply put, you can talk about anything, yet we can’t work together on everything. Nothing is off the table in a Sanctus Session and it’s a space where you can say the weirdest, whackiest or scariest things that are going on for you. Let’s name it, people do talk about suicide and it’s welcome in the Santus space.

However, Santus Coaches are coaches and are not the right person to work with on certain things. You wouldn’t go to a personal trainer with a slipped disc in your back. Sanctus Coaches know where their boundaries are and we often work with individuals on where will be the best place for them to get support moving forward.

Which other businesses do you work with?

We work with 60+ businesses right now and we’re growing. Our Partners range from small startups, 150 person businesses, global brands and large multinationals.

All businesses have people and we’re completely agnostic to any industry.

Can we pick our coach?

We do that for you. We’ll select your Sanctus Coach based on their availability. We don’t let businesses hand pick Santus Coaches due to unconscious bias and to protect their impartiality.

Is this going to open Pandora’s box?

Sanctus will open up a conversation on something that is already going on for every single one of your employees — mental health. We make the implicit explicit and give people a safe and dedicated space for their mental health, so it doesn’t just blurt out down the pub or in a management meeting.

What happens if people aren’t using the sessions / if there are drop-offs?

From the off we’ll work with you to get the accessibility and total number of available sessions right. We can tweak this throughout the year too if we see an increase or decrease in usage. Typically our attendance rate averages at 85%.

Have you had any businesses that have stopped using you?

Yep. We’ve not lost a lot of partners, yet there have been a few. The main reason for us stopping working with someone has been because of budget cuts or them going out of business. After that, it’s because our partnership wasn’t working and people weren’t using the space. Sanctus doesn’t work if the partnership isn’t right from the start or if there aren’t enough sessions available for people to feel the benefit. Where we haven’t worked is when we haven’t had a solid, stable commitment or relationship from the off.
