Who our Coaches are and how we support them
Become a Sanctus Coach — keep scrolling 👇🏽

Our Coaches spend time in a business opening up an impartial and confidential space for people to talk about anything they’d like, whether it’s personal, professional, a challenge or something they’d like to work on, people use Sanctus as a space to share what they typically would not in day-to-day life and often as a space to get started working on their mental health, perhaps for the first time.

For us, coaching isn’t just something you do, it’s part of who you are. Our coaches have always been coaches, before they even knew it. They’re curious, intuitive, empathetic and more.

We don’t treat people like patients or clients, our style of coaching is human, down to earth and focused on people. We’ll bring some of ourselves to the session, rather than hold ourselves back, we’ll never be too directive as we’re there to empower people not tell them what to do with their lives.

A lot of coaching can be about selling the secret formula to success or “fixing people”. We don’t believe anyone is broken and we won’t do the work for people — we’ll create the space and give the support to enable people to show up as their full selves.

Say hi to Sophie, our Head of Coaching, often the voice at the end of the phone and the person the other side of the e-mails :)

If you work in a business and would like to talk to us about Sanctus, then please find out more about how we work here.

If you’re a Coach and you’re looking to get involved, keep going…

Being a Sanctus Coach

We’re making coaching and mental health available to more and more people. Right now we do that by placing Sanctus Coaches in the workplace, accessible to all.

We’re always on the lookout for amazing coaches to join our team.

Sanctus Coaches see a diverse range of individuals who bring all kinds of topics. Nothing is off the table to bring to coaching, from talking about mental health issues, all the way to day-to-day life and performance. And when we’re not the right people to provide support — whether that’s because people need a marathon trainer or a therapist — we can use the space to help individuals think through how to get the right support.

Meet Allegra, one of our Coaches here.

Note: Can you believe you’ve got all this way without seeing or hearing the word boundaries yet? 😮

Our Boundaries’ are extremely important to us and we’ve explicitly explained them here for all to see.

If you’re interested in applying to become a Sanctus Coach, here are some of the things we’d like you to know:

  • We only accept coaches that are either fully accredited or in the process of becoming accredited. We don’t mind where the accreditation comes from, for example it could be ICF, AC, EMCC, or BACP.
  • Having completed a certified training alone, isn’t enough, we require either full accreditation or for you to be well on your way there.
  • Most coaches will have done around 200 hours of coaching before coaching with us (there are some exceptions).
  • We only work with coaches who are full-time coaches, i.e coaching is your main thing.
  • Sanctus coaching takes place in-person, with the majority of our partners in London. However, we’re open to receiving applications from coaches based elsewhere in the UK as we’re looking to grow regionally.
  • We work with Counsellors and Psychotherapists too, as long as you have experience of working in a coaching context.
  • Sanctus Coaching is not performance, executive or leadership coaching.
  • The Sanctus Coaching contract exists exclusively between the coach and the individual who enters the session. The business has no input into the direction or outcome of the coaching.
  • People bring all kinds of things to sessions and show up with a range of needs, so our coaching is centred around “being with” people as well as helping them move towards outcomes. Sometimes this means allowing people to be heard and feel listened to instead of only focusing on forward movement.
  • You must feel equipped to coach a full range of roles, from founders, to executives, mid-level and junior staff.
  • You must be comfortable with the possibility of only seeing an individual once, or sporadically. Whilst also working with some people in an ongoing relationship (see what we meant about diverse!).
  • You must feel capable of coaching 8 people within a day (45 minute sessions).
  • You must feel comfortable and well resourced to deal with emotional content and be experienced in your boundaries around coaching vs therapy.
  • You can hold space for people who become emotional or have mental health issues. You don’t have to coach mental health issues, but you are confident in holding space and signposting.
  • You could coach for a minimum of two days per month with us.
  • You want to be part of a coaching team and community :)
  • Your coaching day at Sanctus could look something like this; anxiety, suicidal thoughts, leadership, curious check-in, boundaries, addiction, relationships, career, difficult boss.

If all of the above sounds exciting to you, then we would love to get to know you better.

You can apply to be a Sanctus Coach by filling in this application form. One of our Head Coaches will follow up with you regarding next steps.

Oh, and of course, money. We weren’t avoiding it, but we want coaches who are here for the people and the cause, not the day rate. Before we progress you any further in the process we will inform you of our commercial arrangement, however we’ve decided not to make that information publicly available right now. So if you’d like to be a Sanctus Coach, then please tell us more about yourself and we’ll follow up by explaining the details of how we work.
