Are you passionate about the Mental Health League and want to share your story? We’re looking for talented writers to share their stories and help the “No Off-Season” movement grow. Share your story on overcoming challenges as someone directly or indirectly affected by a mental illness. Please look at our recently published posts for inspiration.

Why write for the Mental Health League?

Our community is a fast-growing platform of storytellers, with an even wider audience of followers passionate about authentic stories related to mental health and illness. You’ll also join our private Facebook group of contributors where you can access more opportunities for sharing your writing across the web.

Most importantly, your story will inspire others to change their mindset, and rally together to shift the landscape from stigma to strength. Inspired? Great. Here’s the stories we’re looking for.

Let’s focus on diversity, inclusivity and pride.

  • Diverse and inclusive: We’re focused on all stories, particularly those that elevate voices from underrepresented populations.
  • Non-Judgmental: We will not post articles that judge, shame or blame those directly or indirectly affected by a mental illness.
  • Positivity and pride: We collect stories that focus on positive outcomes and aspirations related to mental health and mental illness, not those that glamorize unhealthy symptoms or habits.

Now that we’ve got that covered, let’s review submissions.

Share your story and featured image!

To submit your piece, email us at hello@mentalhealthleague.com with the subject line beginning with “Story Submission”. Upon review, we’ll send you an email with all the logistics needed to publish on the MHL publication. You’re also welcome to send us a link to an article already posted on Medium that you’d like to submit for cross-publishing here.

Be sure to submit a story as close as possible to final. We’re here to help shape your story, but we want to support on your best and brightest to minimize workflows and ensure your voice is the final product, not ours.

Also, we’ll need you to submit a cover photo, which is really important for our publication. We prefer an original image, but you can use several stock photography sites like Unsplash or Pixabay to find one that resonates most. Be sure to include the attribution as necessary.

Please note: We review all submissions and only respond to those we want to move forward with. You’re welcome to revise your submission and re-submit at a later date. For tips on writing a compelling post for Medium, read this helpful article.
