Mental is out now!(Guidelines included)

I’m so excited to announce Mental Plus, one of the very few publications on Medium covering mental issues! I’ve kept this idea inside of me for such an insanely long amount of time, and it’s finally out.

Now, let’s dive into the questions.

Why Mental?

The initial name of this publication was supposed to be just “Mental”, as it refers to both the mind and the U.K. slang that stands for the informal meaning of “crazy”.

I cannot lie, I was very doubtful about this name, but I guess it kind of fits the purpose and the meaning of the publication.

Unfortunately, there was an already existing account with that name, and according to Medium publications’ guidelines, you cannot create a publication using a name that is being already used by another account.

That being said, as for any other feature of the publication, I tried to keep the meaning behind it, so I used the cross both in the name and the background as a reference to health.

Plus is just the literal transcription of the cross, but at least I could keep the name. Also, it gives me the idea of something “more”, something that could be useful for mental health. Creating a publication called “Mental Health” would have been a little too trivial.
