CAT 2016 is just 2 weeks away. Everyone is working hard and giving their best to bell the CAT. We all need a breather at times to just relax. You risk burning out if you don’t disconnect for a while. And this is what makes the CAT exam journey beautiful. It is a journey which has its ups and downs. And it is the cool headed yet enduring ones who rise above everything and emerge victorious at the end of the day. Let’s cut to the chase: what I mean is relax. Take a 2 min break and read this article.

Last 10 days have been different than usual. Trump won the US presidential elections and Modi demonetized 80% of the Indian currency in circulation. The ban on 500 rupee and 1000 rupee notes by the Modi government has definitely been absorbed by most Indians as a positive and much needed change(except Kejriwal of-course). But with the news spreading around social media platforms about the existing ATMs not having the technical capabilities of dispensing the new currencies or the problems faced by the common man at the micro-economic level could have been tackled with a little bit of better planning. Or maybe it has already been thought through by our government and we just need to trust them that they made the right move given the circumstances. Be any case, the demonetization is proving to be a painful hit to black money hoarders and the corrupt as can be seen through the burning piles of notes and the surge in temple donations across the country. We need to support the government for change is real (pun intended) and its happening now.

This move also has triggered a mass-movement of credit and transactions onto the digital platform. Paytm and other e-money wallet firms have registered a 10x growth in the amount of transactions post 8th November. But time will tell us where does this master stroke by the Modi government takes us.

Another news that surfaced on the internet is about a jilted lover who had previously expressed his emotions on a 10 rupee note. Now that Gandhiji has a new vibrant pink avatar on the 2000 rupee note, the internet did everything to resurrect our forgotten comrade. Have a look at what happened as Sonam Gupta turned “Bewafa”:

And it didn’t stop here. The internet (see Sir Ravindra Jadeja) went wild creating memes after memes.

Twitter exploded. News channels feeding on her “Bewafai” for TRPs. Facebook memes and pages emerged. And yes, this did create a few misunderstandings with girls named “Sonam Gupta” and all in healthy spirit. But seriously now jokes aside, we are getting a fresh start with newer currency in the market. We should stop soiling our notes by writing on them. In reality, scribbling on notes renders our currency invalid and the RBI is pushed into re-issuing the soiled bills thereby increasing the costs to the treasury. We can be better than this. Just try to refrain yourself from creating any more memes with real notes (else wait till 30th Dec 2016 and use your 500 and 1000 notes). Anyways, 2 minutes are up. Enjoy your preparation journey and rock the CAT. You should now get back to your books. All the best and happy prepping!!
