What is Mento Design Academy?

We are a trustworthy UX programme educating the next generation of designers through a solid curriculum, practice and mentorship.

What type of content should you publish with us?

We embrace many forms of expression! Our publication is focused on supporting designers who are growing in their careers.

Our articles can range from career stories to tips and tricks, tutorials, job hunting advices, portfolio tips, opinion articles, industry news, and many more. Everything is aimed toward designers who are just starting out or working their way up in a specific area of interest.

How do I submit my article?

A. Simply send us an e-mail with it

The e-mail address is radu@mento.design. We’ll review it in a few business days and get back to you. If your article meets our requirements, you’re good to go! If necessary, we will provide one or two rounds of feedback to assist you in improving your article’s storytelling and/or formatting.

When it’s ready, we’ll add our footer, and your article will be queued for publication. We’ll notify you when it’s ready to go live!

B. Submit it to Medium

Once we know about the draft, you should also submit your article to the publication. Steps: Edit your article › Top-right menu ›‘Add to publication › Mento Design Academy› Submit

Draft an outline

Use a specific format to outline your main idea. (For a complete template, see this article). We also recommend conducting a quick search before starting. Make sure you know as much as possible about what your peers have previously written. You might discover a new point of view or new sources to help you support your idea.

Tips & Tricks for getting the best out of your article (aka requirements)

  • Give your article both a title and subtitle. Break the article into paragraphs. Give each of them a good header. Here are some examples of titles:

1. The Normal (Ways to Create A Great Logo)
2. A Question (What Are the Ways to Create A Great Logo?)
3. The How-to (How to Create A Great Logo)
4. The Numbered List (5 Ways to Create A Great Logo)
5. Address the Reader (Ways Freelancers Can Create A Great Logo)

  • Make sure your article’s introduction provides value, as well as a conclusion with key takeaways/calls to action.
  • Proofread before submitting it. Run your article by services such as Grammarly or Google Docs to fix spelling and grammar errors
  • Include all sources and references (links, quotes, and mentions) in your article.
  • We recommend adding an image (can also be .gif) to every other section. If you don’t have a custom image to add, try free stock photo websites like Unsplash, Pexels, Burst, The Stocks, or Pixabay
  • Add captions and alt text to all your images. This will ensure your image is understandable by screen readers, making your story accessible for users with visual impairments.
